Title: Founding Twilio
Abstract. This talk seeks to feed the inner-entrepreneur of CS grad students. I will relate a brief history of Twilio and highlight the critical phases of a venture-backed hyper-growth silicon valley startup from the perspective of a newly minted CS grad. I finished grad school in early 2008 and founded Twilio with friends from school. Today, the company has more than 100 employees, offices across the US and in Europe, and has more than 75,000 developers using the APIs to make and receive phone calls and send and receive text messages.
Evan Cooke is CTO and Co-founder at Twilio. Evan was recently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in network security and distributed systems at the University of Michigan where he completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in computer science.
